 Harbour Island...1984

I made one cast, with what I deemed to be a very light tackle gear, and immediately a fish hit it. With the light tackle, it took some time to bring in the 16 inch fish. It was a Yellow tailed snapper. This continued for a couple of hours, until I had around 18 very nice fish.

The boy had also caught a dozen fish and we were very happy about our catch, with one drawback. What were we going to do with them? Neither of us had a room with cooking facilities, so we gave the fish to the guide, which he knew he was going to get back all along. We made the ½ hour ride back to Ramora Bay Club and said our good buys and thanks to our guide for a very enjoyable fishing trip.

About 2 hours later, our guide arrived at the dock and was carrying a bag of cleaned snappers up to the main house. I started laughing to myself as he was selling the fish we caught to the restaurant. That evening, we all enjoyed fresh Yellow tailed snappers for dinner that the boy and I caught…Only in the Bahamas…
